What’s New for the 2027 Nissan Frontier
The 2027 Nissan Frontier is built around something that has become unusual in the midsize truck class: every single configuration gets the same naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6, rated at 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. There is no four-cylinder base engine and no power penalty for choosing the work-truck grade. Along with the Toyota Tacoma, the Frontier is also one of only two midsize pickups still offering a choice between a crew cab and an extended cab.
For 2027, Nissan adds a Sport Edition package that brings PRO-4X-inspired looks and all-terrain tires to the mid-range SV, along with a new paint color, an upgraded wireless charger and a moonroof option for the PRO grades. Starting MSRP for the lineup ranges from $34,265 MSRP* to $44,465 MSRP*. Below is the complete 2027 lineup as Nissan released it.

Sport Edition is the headline, slotting between SV and the PRO grades for buyers who want trail-ready equipment without stepping up to a PRO-X or PRO-4X.
Frontier 250th Anniversary Edition
Separate from the grade lineup, Nissan built a commemorative Frontier marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. It was limited to 2,500 trucks assembled through July 2026 at the Canton, Mississippi plant, and carried no MSRP increase over a standard PRO-4X.

Grades and Pricing
The Frontier is offered in four grades. King Cab body style is limited to the S grade with a 6-foot bed. Crew Cab is available across all four grades, with a 5-foot bed standard and a 6-foot bed optional on SV and PRO-4X.

Chassis and Assembly
The Frontier uses body-on-frame ladder construction with an independent double-wishbone front suspension and an overslung multi-leaf rear with a Dana axle. PRO-X and PRO-4X swap the twin-tube dampers for Bilstein units. The truck is assembled at Nissan’s Canton, Mississippi plant, which built its one-millionth Frontier in June 2026, and the V6 is assembled at the Decherd, Tennessee powertrain plant. More than two million Frontiers have been assembled in the United States since production began in 1998.

Towing, Payload and Fuel Economy
Maximum towing is 7,150 pounds on the S King Cab 4×2 when properly equipped. Because both ratings are governed by weight already on the truck, lighter rear-drive configurations consistently out-tow and out-carry their 4×4 equivalents. Gross combined weight rating is 11,960 pounds and GVWR is 6,012 pounds across every configuration.

An 8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display are standard on every Frontier. The available 12.3-inch screen and wireless smartphone connection separate the S from everything above it.
