Community Sales Director Crowned 2009 Miss LA Galaxy

CALIFORNIA, DECEMBER 18, 2008. - Can a smart, beautiful, talented, young woman working for the Inland Empire's largest automotive group go unnoticed for long? Apparently not, at least not after being announced this year's winner of the 2009 Miss LA Galaxy contest. Thousands of voters flooded the LA Galaxy Soccer Team's website to make their pick. Even with ten contestants, an enormous thirty percent of the votes still went to one person.

Katrina Lopez of Rancho Cucamonga isn't an established car salesperson. She's more of a goodwill ambassador for OREMOR, representing the Toyota, Scion and Lexus brands. Lopez is using her poise, beauty, professionalism, and good-natured class to promote the OREMOR Automotive Group's service, sales, and parts as OREMOR's Community Sales Director. She brings her charisma to her work every day, and that's what nabbed the attention of voters and Galaxy fans. Lopez took home all three honors at the event: The Fan's Choice Award, Ms. Congeniality, and, of course, the Crown.

Lopez spends her off time helping with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, but by day, it's car sales and public relations that keep her busy. The OREMOR Automotive Group in Ontario was founded in 1970 and has been serving the Inland Empire with their award-winning customer satisfaction. The group is made up of Empire Nissan, Jeep-Chrysler-Dodge of Ontario, and Romero Hyundai, Mazda. It's here where Katrina thrives. "If I have a job and I have a goal that needs to be accomplished, I want to make sure it gets done correctly!" she said on stage for the ceremony. She finds pride in her position as Community Sales Director, and every day, it?s Katrina's energy and smiles that keep things fun at the OREMOR Automotive family of dealerships.

The young sales rep walked away from the contest with $1000 cash from COVERGIRL, not to mention thousands of fans!

Lopez won't let the victory affect her work with the OREMOR Automotive Group, and she can still be found every day in the Ontario Auto Center.

Nissan?s Juke is sporty, practical

Nissan's Juke is a sporty crossover SUV with a value-minded pricetag.

Nissan's smallest and sportiest crossover SUV could be a budget-priced sports car in disguise.

Think of it as the missing link between a small crossover SUV and a sporty hatchback.

The entertaining-yet-practical Nissan Juke, officially pegged as a "sports cross," competes with models like the Scion xB, Kia Soul and MINI Cooper Countryman for the attention of youthful buyers.

The Juke comes wrapped in distinctive styling that one might either find oddly appealing or just plain odd. A wide and narrow front grille is flanked by round, recessed headlamps, with muscular fenders and a sharply raked roofline that reaches rearward into a bulbous rear-end treatment. Mere description cannot do it justice.

We find the look engaging, especially in a world of blandly boxy crossover designs, but worry that the Juke's visual appeal might wear thin by the time a buyer makes his or her final car payment.

However objective its exterior appeal may be, the Juke's visceral allure is undeniable. A 1.6-liter direct fuel-injected and turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates a willing 188 horsepower, with strong low-end torque, which makes the Juke one quick little crossover.

An available all-wheel-drive system not only splits the engine's power front to rear on as much as a 50:50 basis, but from side to side across the rear axle as needed to maintain traction. This system makes the Juke user-friendlier when the weather turns foul. It also affords more spirited handling on dry pavement, working with the vehicle's sophisticated suspension, speed-sensing electric power steering and 17-inch wheels and tires. The Juke is as much fun careening around city street-corners as it is tackling twisty rural roads. One tradeoff for its tenacity is a rougher ride than some motorists might prefer.

The Juke comes standard with a continuously variable automatic transmission that eschews traditional gears for a belt and set of pulleys to deliver strong and seamless acceleration. As with most CVTs, the car can sound buzzy under full throttle. Some drivers may find the onslaught of power without pausing for shift points to be unsettling. Though the CVT hasn't any gears, it still comes with a manual mode that switches ratios to approximate up- or downshifts.

A six-speed manual transmission is optionally available with front-drive models for those who favor control over convenience. Stability control and antilock brakes are standard for added security in extreme handling situations.

Inside, the Juke's dramatically cast dashboard features a center stack of controls that's styled to look like a motorcycle's gas tank. A single display and set of buttons is used both for the car's climate control and its "I-Con" integrated control system, with the switchgear niftily changing labels from one set of functions to the other as required.

I-Con includes selectable settings for the throttle response, steering and suspension that allow the driver to choose a sportier or more-economical ride, in addition to normal mode. Sport mode truly enlivens the Juke and allows it to reach its full performance potential; running in Eco mode tends to suck the life out of it for the sake of fuel economy. Fortunately, the Juke vindicates itself in that regard with an EPA rating of 27-city/32-highway mpg.

The vehicle's interior is otherwise decently, though not opulently, finished. There's plenty of room up front for taller riders to stretch out, but the seats tend to feel stiff and back seat room is limited. There's sufficient stowage to accommodate most shopping trips, with the rear seat able to fold flat on a 60/40-split basis to accommodate a maximum 39.9 cubic feet of cargo.

Top-shelf options include heated leather seats, push-button start, a rearview mirror, GPS navigation with real-time traffic alerts and a premium audio system with iPod connectivity and a gut-thumping subwoofer.

Best of all it's not extravagantly priced, starting at around $19,000 and maxing out at a bit more than $25,000 for a fully equipped all-wheel-drive model.
